I don’t care if you are seated at a desk or are on a bus or are walking down the street or standing in line or in court. You won’t be able to not boogie down to this song. Enjoy!
i like music. a lot. i like seeing live music. a lot. if i can see a band for 20 dollars and under, i’ll usually try my best to make it happen. this is great for me since i listen to a lot of “less popular” artists. this is also sometimes known as “indie” or “alternative” or “whatever label we feel like attaching this morning.”
but there are a few people i will pay above the $20. a precious few.
and honestly, that’s it. and really, the only priority here is bruce. i’ve never seen him live. i’ve been a ridiculous fan since i was about 10 or younger. it’s time.
my week long only todd snider listening.
and because i like to share, a little bit for you.
east nashville skyline is one of my favorite albums. but this song, kind of creeps up on you. and until i heard it live, i didn’t really notice how powerful it was.
“this feels like a rally in a high school field house. i feel like the captain of the team. well, there goes the captain of the team.”
the whistling is my favorite part.
why? well, mind over matter, my friends. i’m relatively happy. i’m just less happy at work. so, to combat that, i decided to just openly state “today will be a good day” every morning. it should work. right?
anyway, this song popped into my head a few days ago. and i haven’t quite been able to shake it.
whenever i hear this, i hear my mom singing along in my head. and before you go “awwww” – let it be known that my mom did not know the words. she’d sing along to the random words she knew and then hum the rest. it would sound like this “tu vuo fa’ l’americano, la lalalalalalalalall laaaaaaaa, baseball, lalalalalalalalalalalllllllaa, rock and roll, laaaalllalalalla”
and also, well, as much as i adore my mom, her singing voice was very squeaky. so this is one of those memories that makes me crack up whenever it pops up. because, really, it’s hilarious.
and if you need something with more matt damon –
from the talented mr. ripley.
this movie made me fall for jude law (i later started to hate him and now i begrudgingly find him fun again – dammit sherlock, dammit.)
also, um, matt damon.
and this movie is kind of amazing. gwyneth before she got all goopy. cate blanchet before we all knew she’d be in indiana jones 3 one day. phillip seymour hoffman being exactly the same as he is now. and jude law wearing adorable hats and shorts. (also, i just searched imdb and discovered that jack “i sound just like steve coogan” davenport was in it. sadly, he will always be steve to me.)
